Collection of Environmental Sanitation

The Collection of Environmental Sanitation is a charge dedicated to the betterment of the local community operated by the government of Baja California Sur. This new fee will support government investment in environmental infrastructure, sustainability and safety practices, among other projects.

The charge implementation will occur on September 6, 2022, and all tourists must pay. Reservations paid before this date will be exempt from this amount. The charge will be made for timeshare hotels, shared hotels, and accommodation facilities throughout the destination. Travelers can see the charge on their hotel bill at check-in or check-out.

The charge will be 37.99 Mexican pesos per room and night, approximately USD 2.20, depending on the exchange rate, regardless of occupancy.

All the funds will go to a private trust and they will be administered by a supervisory council that will include the participation of experts in sustainability, the private sector, and the authorities, whose sole purpose is the correct management of the Fund's resources.
